A large committee at Protogenos worked for months to create a corporate video. They made some compromises and tradeoffs as committees often do. Imagine their excitement when the video premiered around the world:
What Went Wrong?
The committee made a few mistakes along the way.
- They wrote a script that could have described virtually any technology product
- They used stock video images that said little about their value proposition
Let’s break it down scene by scene:
Stock video footage | Generic script |
---|---|
![]() | “When great ideas have clear actions, success is inevitable. In the fast world of technology and software, many great ideas never see the light.” |
![]() | "In the fast world of technology and software, many great ideas never see the light." |
![]() | "Whether it’s because of a lack of understanding, or the fear of entering uncharted terrain, many entrepreneurs give up on their lucrative ideas that can actually help them achieve their business objectives." |
![]() | "At Protogenos, we provide clarity and insight to your software related projects" |
There is a Better Way!
Next time you create a video, describe your customers’ Pain in the first sentence. Follow up with a sentence describing the broader pain, and a sentence about the ideal solution. By 0:15 or 0:20, you’ll be ready to blow them away with your solution.
